Selling your used mobile phones to a phone recycle company is a simple and straightforward process. There are half a dozen large well known phone recycle companies on the market today and each will have a slightly different procedure and as always it is worth reading the terms and conditions of the company involved but as a rule when you are seeking to recycle your phone the procedure will usually run as follows –

  • Search for your old mobile phone model on Handsets.eu

  • Click on the best price available which will then forward you to that specific recycler
  • Fill in your details and the details of the phone on their website as prompted and choose method of payment. You will need to know the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of your handset. This is a unique 15 digit serial number which can be found on the back of your handset (underneath the battery). The phone recycler will then use the IMEI number to ensure that the phone has not been reported as lost or stolen.
  • The phone recycler will then send out a welcome pack with instructions and a freepost padded envelope for you to post back to them.  You should send the phone in a charged state, switched off and ensure that you have removed your SIM card, any passwords or locks and any personal settings along with personal data on the phone. Typically an easy way to do this is to select the “factory reset” option in your phone’s settings.
  • Once the phone recycler has received the phone and provided that it is in an acceptable condition and there is no problem with the IMEI number, they will issue the payment to you via the method you have accepted. This could be a cheque, retail vouchers (such as Argos) or PayPal in some instances.
